Windows 8/RT Mail app: Exchange account is unavailable error

After a long time of uninterrupted usage, I started to recieve this error message displayed by Windows 8/RT Mail app (WinRT-based, on Microsoft Surface tablet): “username@domain.com is unavailable” for my local domain account, hosted on Exchange from Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2003; some folders have also stopped syncing successfully, while others continued to work as expected.

To resolve the issue I used: Settings (from Charms), Accounts, selected the local domain account, and chosen “The last 7 days” instead of “The last 2 weeks” to shorten the amount of data expected from the server when syncing. Hopefully this is not a temporay resolution; time will tell.

Thank you very much for your solution. With few keystrokes I could solve a problem where Microsoft is still wondering what is happening (just have a look through the web….).

Thanks! This helped narrow down the cause of the problem to a corrupted older email
