Windows Live Mail Updating Calendar Issue

I had a small issue with Windows Live Mail when “updating calendar” (connecting to the Windows Live Calendar on their server from my Hotmail account): the issue was not with data itself, which seemed to be correctly synchronized, but with the client that was performing some tasks under this action for a long time and generating an error eventually:

To resolve this issue, I simply needed to clear the contents from the folder C:/Users/[Username]/Local Settings/Application Data/Microsoft/Windows Live Mail/Calendars, and restarted Windows Live Mail client application: after the restart the calendar update has run smoothly and fast.

Update: However, after a few runs, the initial issue reappeared, so this may be a bigger bug within Windows Live Mail, and maybe (hopefully) it will be resolved with an update later.

They are apparently having a problem with the Windows OS since on Windows 7 build 7057 the calendar sync works great.

Just what do they mean about calendar update with Windows Live Mail.

  4. Mary Johnson says:

What’s this calendar they’re saying is updating when the program locks up and won’t send or receive mail?

I learned that if I close the program after sending/receiving mail, I have success with it not locking up on me.

Thank you for this, I have had some complaints about not sending/receiving certain important e-mails, all because this “Updating Calendar” crap was jamming everything. I’m hoping this trick will solve it!

Hi Sir, I am facing the same problem. May I know how to go to C:Users/local setting ….

Press Start + R to open Run window then enter the path there, replacing [Username] with your Windows account username: C:/Users/[Username]/Local Settings/Application Data/Microsoft/Windows Live Mail/Calendars. Anyway now this issue is old, Windows Live Essentials may have change a lot. For example, in Windows 10 there is no more need for Windows Live Mail app as there is the Windows Mail trusted app.
